Such a Busy Time!!!!

I know that everyone have been so busy!  The STAAR test is coming, baseball, spring events, and life in general.  I’m still trying to get the Texas pictures on the site so that everyone can see them and get a copy if they want.  That has been a major ordeal, and I keep finding stumbling blocks along the way.  Now we are also having trouble with the browsers and can’t use the dashboards to see to post or add anything to the sites.  Like the old saying goes…”when it rains, it pours!”  However, we are making it.  We always do cause I’ve discovered if there is a will there is always a way.  I just want to hang on to these last few months a little bit longer cause I don’t want to lose the 6th grade. They are a great group. It’s really been a good year.

Texas Videos No Longer on YouTube

It’s been brought to my attention that some of you were not happy with the Texas videos being on YouTube so I blocked them.  I’ve taken off all links to the videos and you will only be able to view them on my page.  Unfortunately you cannot copy them now to put on your site or to keep for personal use.  Just for the record, I did check with the office before I let anyone start the website to see if they had internet privileges and if they could be on the internet.  All 6th grade had releases signed.  It’s been stated to me, Electra Lone Star Kids have been in several types of media this year: Channel 3 News, Facebook, Wichita Times Record News, and the Electra News Paper.  Now I’m not responsible for any of those, and I have a grandson in your class!  But as of yesterday the videos were off of YouTube and only available for viewing on my site.

Out for Another Snow Day

Well we’re out for another snow day……again!  Now most were excited.  I’m one of those that will miss our days out in the spring.  However I was tired yesterday and didn’t know if I was coming or going.  I guess if we are going to have a snow day out, this was a perfect day because of the trip.  I’ve been working on a Texas page on my site.  I’m finding out that it’s going to be a little more of a major build than I at first was thinking it would be with all of the long video.  Of course I can’t do anything simple!!  I’ll figure it out, and I’ll probably think you all will have to know how to do it cause you all are so techy smart lol!

Giz liked the snow!  He ran right out when I opened the door.  He’s beginning to look like a sheepdog.  I guess it’s a good thing that he hasn’t had a haircut because of all of the cold weather.  He missed his last appointment because of the last ice storm.  I’m sure Gizmo didn’t mind!  Of course I have to show you a pic of Giz even if he looks shaggy!!!!  By the way Gizmo is on the left and Gabe is on the right.  🙂

A New Respect and So Many Memories

We finally made it back from our San Antonio/Austin trip this morning around 2:00 am.  I can’t believe that with all of the weeks of preparations that the last two days flew by in just a whirlwind.  I’ve always known that so many hours and so many people invested their time and hearts in this venture.  Each year for the last 12 years I’ve watched adults and students work and give so much dedication.  However it took a trip with this group for me to realize the true meaning of why the same group of adults do this year after year.  Also many of the adults no longer have students in the 6th grade.  They continue to do this for the love of passing history down to the students and seeing the light come on in their eyes.  I’m so weak in the field of history, but I love hearing about it.  Mrs. Bigbie knows so much.  I loved walking around and listening as she told about historical facts.  Everything came to life.  I was also amazed that Electra has gained such a well-known reputation in our State Capital and at the Alamo over the last 12 years.  Our district should be so proud.  I know I was in awe and gained such a new respect for the program that Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Bigbie established. I made so many new memories that I will keep with me forever.  I’m proud of each of the students, and will never forget our special time together.
